Our Build, Operate, Transfer (BOT) is a model that
allows our clients to take over the Offshore Development
Center (ODC) in stages. The staged process allows
the clients to evaluate the effectiveness of ODC and
also allows them to manage the change in a phased
manner mitigating risks. The specifics of BOT vary
by organizations. The size and scope of the offshore,
the extent of control required, and willingness to
retain a partner to manage and operate a center are
some factors that influence the deal specifics.
Build - In this phase, the selected
vendor will build the center to client's specifications.
Vendor takes responsibility for setting up infrastructure
and ramping up resources.
Operate - During this phase, the
vendor takes responsibility of executing projects.
Knowledge transfer is conducted at the end of this
phase including transfer of financial and operational
responsibilities.
Transfer - After the center reaches
operational stability, center is transferred to the
client. In a typical BOT, transfer phase has two components
- value of assets and a transfer price (most prevalent
practice is to base transfer price based on revenue
generated by development center).
BOT deals are sold on the rationale of premium to
speed up setting of operations rather than client's
inability to set up operations.
