Six Sigma (6s) is a high-performance and metric-driven
methodology, conceptualized in the early 80s for ‘breakthrough
improvements’ in processes and product design,
leading to higher monetary benefits and customer delight.
6s focuses on improving quality by helping organizations
produce products and services better, faster and cheaper.
It focuses on defect prevention, cycle time reduction,
and cost savings – ultimately leading to an
improved bottom line for the organization.
6s involves the use of statistical tools, within
a structured methodology, for gaining the knowledge
required to deliver products and services that are
better and more cost effective than what the competition
is offering. This quantified and objective process
enables faster and easier decision making. Repeated
and consistent application of 6s will recreate the
processes so that defects and errors never arise in
the first place. This is the guiding principle of
6s. The list of tools and techniques encapsulated
in 6s may be similar to other approaches, however
the methodological framework into which they fit and
the overall structure of a Six Sigma effort distinguish
it from other approaches.
6s is a “disciplined and relentless pursuit
for customer delight, higher levels of quality and
lower levels of total cost”.
6s methodologies – DFSS, DMADV and DMAIC are
embraced into the Scintel Process Management Methodology
(SPMM) to achieve the heights of excellence and optimize
our strengths to achieve our goals. At Scintel, we
believe that quality is a culture, expressed in the
way we interact, identify and cater to the needs of
our clients, and in the services we deliver to them.
The primary focus of every associate at Scintel is
on the “Customer”, as a continually satisfied
customer is the true foundation for profitability,
bottom-line results and global competitiveness.
A comprehensive certification program has been designed
and deployed to ensure that all Associates can be
imparted Six Sigma skills specific to their needs
through training and hands on implementation of Six
Sigma projects.
The internal mandate at Scintel is that all senior
leaders be certified in 6s black belt.
